San Sebastià and Barceloneta beach. San Sebastià and Barceloneta beach are the closest to the historical centre. They stretch from the pier to Puerto Olímpico. The water is here a little less choppy than the other beaches. So it’s not a good spot for surfers. But it’s very lively. You’ll find here beach bars (chiringuitos), restaurants, cafes and a lot of tourists. There are sport facilities, showers and play areas for children. Sebastià is also visited by nudists. Puerto Olimpíco Puerto Olimpíco is marked by the high Mapfre towers and the huge, copper goldfish sculpture. Here you’ll find the casino, souvenir shops, restaurants and a buzzing nightlife. It’s is a good place for clubbing. Nova Icária beach The next stop on the beach trail is Nova Icária, close to metro station Ciutadella | Villa Olímpica. It’s slightly further from the centre and more stretched out than the beaches close to the city centre. Barcelona Bogatell beach Bogatell beach is also more stretched out that the beaches close to the city centre. The water is slightly deeper and choppier here. It’s is a good spot for water sports like jet skiing and canoeing. At Bogatell beach you also will find trendy beach bars and along the promenade there are restaurants with great views. Marbella beach Barcelona Marbella beach is about 10 minutes from the Barcelona city centre. You can take the metro to metro station Poble Nou to get here or walk along the promenade. There’s also space to park your car. The beach is stretched out and less crowded than the other beaches. Here you’re surrounded by windsurfers and other water sport fans. The hot summer parties in the beach bars here are well known, just like the small nudist section. Barcelona Nova Mar Bella Nova Mar Bella beach close to the Forum is the last one in the line of city beaches. It’s a nice and quiet beach and has a more local vibe. Sitges beach Outside Barcelona, along the coastline of the pretty village Sitges, you’ll find the El Garraf beach area. Discover here the little coves and enjoy the soft sand. It is well known for the lively gay scene. The crowd is a nice mixture of different people who come for the beautiful beaches.
