It’s residential here in this part of Eixample Dreta. The main landmark, Monumental, is a bullring without bulls. But its striking mudéjar form still dominates. And less flashy than other parts. But don’t miss the theatre or market.
Convenience stores, fruit shops, cafes, bakeries and the odd sushi bar (there’s a large Asian community here) provide for the locals. Monumental may have seen its last bullfight. But the modern National Theatre provides just as grand a spectacle. Fans of a bargain will have a ball among the bric-a-brac of Encants.
