Hansaviertel - part of Mitte - is a listed and protected housing estate built in the 1950’s by a group of eminent modern architects, some from the Bauhaus school. But even if modern architecture doesn’t interest you, the great central location sandwiched between the Spree and the north of Tiergarten park should keep you more than happy.
The no. 200 bus stops nearby and makes its way around many tourist sites. Or you could walk over through Tiergarten and stop for a beer in Schleusenkrug beergarden, visit the Bauhaus Museum, or the blitzed Kaiser-Wilhelm Church.
