This part of the former west of Berlin features a major tourist attraction in the baroque Charlottenburg Palace and gardens. As you would expect from such a setting, there’s quite an idyllic feel. And the river Spree running through the neighbourhood just adds to the atmosphere.
Culture vultures will be happy to know that the Bröhan Museum (art and design) and Berggruen Museum (modern art classics) are just opposite the castle. Head south to Kantstrasse or Ku’damm for restaurants, bars and boutiques.
