‘Storm the Bastille!’ we say, as a revolution is taking place in the 11th – it’s radically changing from working class grit to ‘blue collar chic’.

The futuristic Ópera Bastille (or ‘the people’s opera house’) sets the tone for this up and coming hood where bleeding edge street culture meets old shops and ethnic restaurants. Visit the Edith Piaf Museum then poke around the owner-run boutiques and retro markets of the Oberkampf district, and then head back at night for the über-cool bars and clubs.
