Malá Strana, Prague

Gently sloping from the Castle to the Vltava’s left bank, Malá Strana is one of Prague’s most desirable districts. Spend some time immersed in its baroque splendour and you’ll see why. 

Its name may mean ‘Lesser Quarter’ but for many this is essential Prague. The baroque palaces and churches will make you swoon or just spend an afternoon pottering about the antiques shops and cafes. The castle is a short, uphill walk – pack a picnic and stop off at the romantic Pálffy Gardens on the way.
