Amsterdam is the city of bikes and it's a great experience to discover Amsterdam cycling. It’s very easy to hire a bike. There are a lot of bike rental companies and also close to central locations like Central Station, Dam square and Leidseplein square. For a full day you’ll pay around €8.
Some tips to cycle safely
Use the bicycle lanes on the right-hand side of the road. They are marked by white lines and bike symbols.
Don’t cycle on pavements, motorways and on pedestrian shopping streets.
Don’t get stuck in the tram rails.
Don’t break the rules by cycling through red lights or at night without lights. Many Dutch cyclists break the rules, but it’s better not to do the same.
Always lock your bike, because the bicycle thieves in Amsterdam are very good at their job and work 24 hours a day.
