Wine with a story
According to the story, each noble man set off towards Chianti at the first crow of a cockerel in their city. Florence had a black rooster, kept without food so that it would crow earlier than in Siena.
The outcome of this meant that Florence won the majority of the Chianti territory. The image of this black rooster is still used today as the seal of quality on the Chianti wine bottle.
You can visit Florence's Enoteca wine shops to find the right bottle of Chianti and visit the markets for fresh products, nothing quite compliments a glass of Chianti quite like the local olives.
