Florence may be quite small but there are numerous bus routes across the city.
Run by a company called ATAF, you can buy tickets from anywhere that displays their sticker, for example bars, tobacconists or newsagents. Head to the ATAF booth at the Piazza Stazione and you’ll also find extra information and maps.
Bought before you get on the bus, a single use ticket (valid for 70 minutes) costs 1.20€. If you can’t buy one beforehand the price goes up to 2.00€. You can save extra money by buying multiple-ride tickets, that’s if you plan on using the bus more than once.
These cheery orange buses have three doors. Get on using the front or the back doors. Get off using the middle one.
And don’t forget to validate your ticket at the machine once you’re on the bus. If not you risk being fined.
