Well it was about ten years in the making, but since the beginning of 2010, Florence has a tram. The aptly called T1 (there’s currently only one line) connects the city centre to the southern suburbs, at 14 stops along the way.

Two more lines are being planned, although there has been quite a lot of criticism due to the cables and the vibrations which some say destroy a city like Florence.

But for now, line one is a quick and efficient way to travel. A single ticket will cost you around 1€ and a day pass around 5€.
