Kazimierz
Kazimierz is the historical Jewish district of Krakow. Kazimierz is one of the most touristic areas in Krakow and also a major cultural center in Krakow. The Jewish quarter of the Kazimierz is the full of historical cafes and restaurants. The area is also very popular with its buzzing nightlife.
The Jewish festival that takes place here every summer is also one of the biggest festivities in the city. During the festival plenty of street parties go on around the old synagogue which is the most famous landmark of the area.
Stare Miasto
Stare Miasto or the old town of Krakow is the most famous district of Krakow, it includes the Wawel Castle Hill, the Main Market Square and the Krakow Barbican. A must do in the area is to take a walk down the Royal Route that enters the area from Barbican in the north and leads its way up to the Wawel through the Floriańska Street. Floriańska Street is the most well-known high street in the city with plenty of shops, cafes and bars scattered all over the medieval buildings.
Kleparz
Kleparz is the area that lies to the north of the Krakow Barbican. It is where the famous Royal Route begins. Some of the most interesting sights in this area are the Kleparz Market Square, the Jan Matejko Square, the St. Florian Church and the Grunwald Monument. The area is also rich with restaurants, cafes and bars of all tastes.
Nowy Świat
Nowy Świat or known as the New World is the area that lies to the east of the historical center and the Wawel. This is a calmer part of the city center with plenty of green areas. Most locals enjoy long walks on the Vistula river bank. The modern bars and restaurants are usually crowded by young groups and students as there are university campuses and many other educational institutions located in Nowy Świat.
Krowodrza
Krowodrza area lies to the east of the city center. It is a residential area of Krakow with buildings featuring modern architecture. Most of the habitants of the area are young students as some of the most prestigious school of the country including the AGH University of Science and Technology is located in this quarter of the city. Kościuszko Mound and Park Jordana are amongst the must see places in the area.
Warszawskie
Warszawskie is the area to the north of the city center. Warszawskie is one of the greenest áreas in the city. The main train station in Krakow, Kraków Główny is also located in Warszawskie. The most famous landmark of the area is the Rakowicki Cemetery many of the famous Cracovians lie here. There also are special graves dedicated to those who lost their lives during the November Uprising, the January Uprising, the Krakow Uprising and the World War I & II.
Grzegórzki
Grzegórzki is the area that lies to the east of the city center. This a residential part of the city but you would never run short of bars and restaurants walking on the streets in this area. The Botanical Gardens, Opera Krakowska and Galeria Krakowska are amongst the must-sees in the area.
Podgórze
Podgórze is a quitter district of Krakow located on the south bank of the Vistula River. This one of the up and coming areas of Krakow and is never short of tourist attractions. Some of the famous touristic sights include the Church of St. Joseph dominates the main square of Podgórze, Oskar Schindler's factory, and the popular Józefińska Street.
