Chinatown and organic markets
During weekdays you can stroll around the nice little market. And on Saturdays there is a market with organic products from fruits and vegetables to beauty products and candles.
Because Chinatown is located here, you’ll find here the best Chinese restaurants and shops. But there are also many shops and restaurants with Thai, Japanese, Indonesian and Tibetan influences.
Walk to the Zeedijk to visit the Buddhist Temple.
Close to the Nieuwmarkt you’ll find the famous Red Light District of Amsterdam with prostitutes in red-lit windows and many shops and shows.
The area is busy with tourists and there is 24-hour video surveillance in the area. You can walk around safely, but be aware of pick pockets.
The window prostitution is in the following streets: arndesteeg, Bethlhemsteeg, Bloedstraat, Dollebegijnensteeg, Enge Kerksteeg, Goldbergersteeg, Gordijnensteeg, Molensteeg, Monnikenstraat, Oudekerksplein, Oudekennissteeg, Oudezijds Achterburgwal, Oudezijds Voorburgwal, Sint Annendwarsstraat, Sint Annenstraat, Stoofsteeg en de Trompettersteeg.
