"After scouring literally hundreds of Florence apartments on various websites and struggling with erroneous indications of availability, non-responding apartment owners, etc, I found WayToStay. I opted for this apartment, went through the online booking process and hoped for the best. Luckily for us, the best was pretty much what we got. As mentioned in previous reviews, the owner of this apartment, Lorenzo, is an absolute gem. We arrived three hours early due to my oversight in communication, this was no problem. He brought us oranges and wine to welcome us, gave us a detailed map of Florence with recommended restaurants, laundromat, supermarket and produce and leather markets already marked, and answered any questions we had. He later also printed out some museum tickets for us which we had ordered online, and dropped them off at the apartment. I would also like to mention that his English is great and he seemed very excited, I would almost say passionate, about his work. We later found out he also owns and manages other apartments (some bigger than this one), which are all lovely, and he will definitely be our first choice on any subsequent trips to Florence. About the apartment itself: it was quite lovely, as the photos indicate. The room is a little bigger than you would think from the photos, it has a high ceiling and a spacious feel, also the original tile floor is a cool feature that is hard to capture on camera. The same with the view from the window, the Duomo looks bigger and appears closer than it looks like in the photos. The room has quite a lovely feel to it, and there is something almost sort of magical about the way the light fills it, especially in the morning. It reminded me of an artist's studio. We actually enjoyed just hanging out in the room a couple of times, rather than going out and doing things, as the feel of the space is so nice. Though the space is limited (being a studio apartment), Lorenzo and his wife have done a great job in terms of organization of the space and making things available as much as possible. There was an iron and an ironing board, there is a full view mirror inside the closet, a smaller mirror on top of a shelf that is good for putting your makeup on, there is a table to have breakfast and a small writing desk. The room was very tastefully appointed, in line with the overall style of architecture, and did not feel bare. Also, the location is great, extremely central and there is a supermarket and laundromat at less than 50m. The fact that there was an elevator in the building was also extremely useful. Because the room is located in the back of the building (on a quiet, green courtyard shared with other buildings), it was also very quiet at night. The mattress was great - firm but soft at the same time. In the morning there were birds singing (but not too loud), and there were sparrows flying through the courtyard, which we liked. We were on our honeymoon and I wanted something romantic in a central location, with a view of the Duomo and at a reasonable budget. I don't think we could have done any better. Fantastic value. The toilet is very small and separate from the bathroom (also very small). The kitchen is also small, and as some others have mentioned, it would be difficult to really prepare a warm meal here but you can make salads, cold cuts and juices (we brought our own blender). However, the view, central location and lovely, authentic feel of the main space are hard to beat. The price is also very hard to beat. When we stay in Florence again, we will either go with this apartment again, or if budget and availability allows, we will book a larger apartment from the same owner. "
"Convenient and inexpensive "
"So quiet and yet only about 300 meters from the Duomo with a wonderful view. To be really really picky a balcony would be a godsend but then the rate would increase!"
"Excellent location. Accommodation quite comfortable The key didn't fit properly and eventually broke in the door. There was no cleaning provided for a 7 night stay and not enough toilet paper or cleaning fluid for the toilet. we had to go out and buy some and do our own cleaning."
“Hello! Thanks for your review, the owner usually always leave 4 toilet paper and soap in the bathroom. But you can always contact the owner in any moment if you need somethinig. Cleaning of the apartment is actually not included in the price but in any case you can ask a cleaning, the owner will offer it for free. We hope you had a great stay in this wonderful apartment!”
"Apartment was in a good area close to al main attractions with a great view of the dome. Lorenzo the apartment manager gave us a very friendly welcome to Florence upon arrival and offered some great advise on what to see and where to eat. The apartment was in a very quiet location with no disturbance to our sleep which was great. There were several handy guide books for reference in the apartment, We thought the original tiled floor was fantastic. We enjoyed a very comfortable 3 day stay at this cosy little apartment and would highly recommend it. Toilet flush was slow but always worked eventually with a little persuasion. Toilet roll holder would be handy."
"La situation est parfaite, la description était bien ce a quoi on s attendait. De plus le propriétaire nous a donné quelques très bons conseils sur la ville. Tout était absolument parfait !"
"The location was incredible, views of the Duomo were incredible to wake up to every day. Lorenzo was great as well, providing us with a map that contained both key locations and also everyday things such as markets and cheap restaurants. Will definitely be back!"
"Lorenzo's wondefully happy and friendly welcome.. it was lovely to be greated so warmly after a rather tiring trip. His cookies, fruit and wine to welcome us and, of course, the incredible view to the Duomo... completely magical."
