The Guláš (goulash) is popular, as are soups such as onion or garlic. Keep an eye out for deli stores in Prague, where you can choose from a selection of creamy salads, pickles and meats for a good value lunch, preferably with a beer.
Another favourite in Prague are the sausage (Klobásy) stalls, for an inexpensive and satisfying snack during the day.
Needless to say, beer is the order of the day when it comes to drinks in Prague. Locally-made lager and pilsner is served fresh and cheap and the old tavern atmosphere is perfect for enjoying Prague's finest beer brands.
There are also several regional white wines, for example the Veltlínské zelené variety. After dinner, your night in Prague is not over until you try one of the stronger Czech specialities, Absynthe.
