Late shift bakeries
While most Europeans tend to favour a kebab after a night's boozing, each and every Roman has a favourite cornetto dealer, often a closely guarded secret and located in an unmarked, underground establishment. A cornetto is some kind of croissant.
Revellers will go to any lengths to get to their late-shift bakers and, when the practice was recently threatened by new laws regarding the sale of food at night, there was outcry. To everyone's relief, the mayor has assured the public that "the cornetto is safe" – phew!
