Capuchin monks

The namesake of the cappuccino is a subject of debate; some say it's due to the brown cappucci, or hoods, worn by the monks. Others claim it lies in the similarity between the friars' tonsured heads and the milky head of the beverage, with its surrounding brown ring.

Perhaps a less flattering comparison was made when scientists took the liberty of lending the monks' name to the brown and white Capuchin monkey – don't wear it out now…
