Praga
The area located on the east bank of the Vistula River is called the Praga District. Praga is one of the few areas in Warsaw that survived the devastation of WWII. Over the last 20 years Praga has been experiencing a rapid revival, drawing artist and crowds in search of a different alternative to the old city. Post-industrial buildings in area are now rapidly turning into artistic studios, art galleries, alternative theatres and clubs along with several pubs. The famous Vistula beach, that attracts many locals looking for some outdoor fun is also located in the Praga district. Some of the other tourist attractions in this area are the Church of Our Lady of Loreto, the Zoological Garden, Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and Florian the Martyr and St. John's Archcathedral.
Mokotów
Mokotów is a residential area in Warsaw and at the same time arguably one of the greenest areas in Warsaw. It also hosts numerous foreign companies and the headquarters of various international companies. Although Mokotów is one of the most populated areas of Warsaw, there still are plenty of parks including Łazienki Park which is known as the Royal Baths Park which also a seat to the Łazienki Palace. Other attractions in Mokotów include Królikarnia Palace, Sielce Mansion on Cybulskiego Street, Sztuster Palace. The famous Wilanów Palace is also located in the neighbouring area of Wilanów.
Nowe Miasto
Nowe Miasto, known as the new town in Warsaw is one of the busiest and most touristic areas in Warsaw. Located just outside at the south end of the Old Town, this area has many interesting sights. Bars and restaurants of every taste cover the streets in this area, which also popular for a night out among locals. Some the major tourist attractions in this area include the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the National Museum of Archaeology, Ogród Krasińskich Palace and Park and Raczyńskich Palace.
Stare Miasto
Stare Miasto or the Old Town of Warsaw is the oldest part of the city. Most of the buildings in this area are typical examples of the Medieval Architecture. The heart of this part of the town is the Old Town Market Place and the surrounding streets which are buzzing with tourists round the clock. The Old Town also is the richest area in Warsaw when it comes to dining and shopping. Some of the most distinctive sights of the city such as the ancient city walls, the Warsaw Barbican and the St. John’s Cathedral are also located within the Old Town.
Wola
Wola is the business hub of the capital city. The area has a distinct silhouette thanks to the modern high rise buildings. Despite being the business center of Warsaw, there are several museums in the Wola district at the same time. Some of the most well know museums of the capital; the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Palace of Culture and Science which is located in one of the highest buildings in the city are also located in Wola.
Żoliborz
Żoliborz is a district located to the north of the city centre and on the left bank of the Vistula River. Żoliborz has always been the home to the polish intellectuals living in Warsaw and features charming old villas, wide streets and plenty of public parks. Some of the most elegant restaurants of the city are also spread around Żoliborz. The most notable landmark of this area is the Warsaw Citadel, built by the occupying Russians in the 1800s to keep control of the transit in and out of the city.
Ochota
Ochota is located to the west of the city centre and features some of the most modern architecture in Warsaw. There are various shopping centers spread over the area including the Blue Center, one of the biggest in Warsaw. One of the must see places, particularly popular amongst families travelling with children is the miniature park featuring miniatures of the major Polish landmarks. Modern cafes and bars can be found at almost every corner of the area. Locals living in the area also crowd the two big parks in the area, Park Szczęśliwicki and Pole Mokotowskie for outdoor activities.
