History and future
A stroll around the El Carmen old town will take you back in time. Soak up the atmosphere at the Mercado Central or the Gothic silk exchange, one of Europe’s oldest market places. The crypts of Sant Vicente prison make an interesting tour.
And when you’re ready to be wowed by something altogether more modern, head over to the City of Arts and Sciences, created by Valencia’s renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Check out the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia and the L'Oceanogràfic aquarium. They’re well worth the walk, just don’t forget the camera.
