Paella and tomatoes

Full of colour

You’ll see paella and smell paella all over the city. And there are plenty of other local dishes that will whet your appetite. If you’re a seafood lover try fideuà or black rice, squid ink rice with pieces of squid.

And it doesn’t stop there. They don’t just eat their food in Valencia. No. They throw it. In the last week of August the entire town becomes a big tomato throwing fest. La Tomatina is good, not so clean, healthy fun in the little village Buñol, not far away from Valencia. So if you find yourself there in the last week of August, go to the village, dress down, arm yourself with tomatoes and get prepared to join in. At least, you won’t go hungry.
