Although competition from the U-Bahn and traffic have meant that some lines have disappeared, Vienna’s tram network continues to be one of the most extensive in the world.
The timetable is similar to the metro and the tickets are the same. You can even transfer from metro and bus and vice versa on the same journey. Check out line 1 and 2 if you want to visit some of the most important sights.
Most trams are red and blue. However, if a yellow one comes along it’s a Ring Tram which offers tourist itineraries and audio information in different languages. These are reasonably priced but you’ll have to buy separate ticket.
